This month’s Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce lunch was held at Southwest Technical College. The Chamber team was pleased to welcome iMpact Utah’s regional director Jared Nielson and senior solutions manager Eric Burton, who delivered the training presentation “Kaizen: The Big Power of Small Change”. iMpact Utah does consulting and training to multiply capacity, profits, and sales, while developing high-performing teams.
Burton’s high-energy presentation was of great interest to the audience. The focus was on continual small changes to get past the feeling of “being stuck”, and to increase engagement and improvement momentum. Kaizen is a gentle and powerful way to get going without throwing money at a problem. It supports employee empowerment, a culture of improvement, and can increase employee morale through intrinsically motivating actions.
Those successful with Kaizen are encouraged to “think small”. Feedback and idea-sharing are encouraged, and celebrating even minor improvements reinforce the Kaizen mindset. Continuous improvement benefits both the organization and individual growth. Kaizen isn’t just a program, it’s a way of seeing the world and a way of seeing your business.
