May Chamber Luncheon at the Water Conservancy

A cool and breezy – but mostly sunny – day welcomed attendees to the Kane County Water Conservancy District offices for the chamber’s May luncheon. Chamber Secretary Don Jennings greeted about 25 members and guests at the start of the meeting, just after everyone lined up for delicious orange chicken, rice, spring rolls, and salad from chamber member Honey’s Marketplace.

Renewing members last month include Cliffside Engineering, Eagle Gate Title, Garkane Energy, and Mountain America Credit Union.

Also in attendance were Burro Flats High Desert Lodge, Citywide Mortgage, Cliffview Chapel, Eagle Gate Title, Fab Quartz & Granite, Healing Strong, Hirschi Electric, Kane County, Native Plant Rescue of Utah, Oasis Gardens, Once Upon a Time in America Museum, Quantum NLP, Rascal Rodeo, Stellar Vista Observatory, and West Wind Ranch.

Mike Noel shared a slide show providing a brief history of the conservancy’s work in the county, as well as plans for future expansion of water support services. His comments covered a wide range of county communities, including everything from Duck Creek to Johnson Canyon. Ongoing recreation improvements to Jackson Flat Reservoir continue to showcase the area’s potential for engaging residents and visitors alike.

Rich Csenge of Stellar Vista Observatory took about 15 minutes towards the end of the meeting to talk about the nonprofit’s continued efforts to fund an observatory on conservancy land near the reservoir. SVO’s community events continue to be popular and well attended, drawing families and enthusiasts from across the Kanab and Fredonia area.
