Thursday, February 13th was a snow-covered day that made driving difficult, but that didn’t stop more than 30 Chamber of Commerce members and visitors from attending the monthly lunch hosted for the first time by chamber member Cliffview Chapel Baptist Church. As the attendees filed in, they were greeted warmly by church members, spending time meeting & greeting in the lobby and fellowship hall. Shortly after attendees were formally welcomed by Pastor Doug Hounshell.
Lunch was provided by the church. They served a smorgasbord buffet of sliced ham, homemade mashed potatoes, various salads, desserts, hot vegetables, and even Tricia Hounshell’s famous macaroni and cheese that was featured on television! As one enthusiastic member exclaimed, “This is like Thanksgiving all over again!”
Businesses in attendance included Kanab City, Burro Flats High Desert Lodge, Cliffview Chapel, Sabisara Pets, Sun Moon Healing, Department of Workforce Service, Ron’s Fresh Baked, Stellar Vista Observatory, West Winds Ranch, Best Friends Animal Society, Rise Women’s Wellness, Kane County, East Zion Adventures, Hirschi Electric, Hang’n On By a Thread, Kanab Create, and Hampton Inn.
The program began with chamber vice president Ron Thomas welcoming new members in attendance, who then had an opportunity to speak about their businesses. As lunch was winding down Ron began his presentation as our guest speaker. His informative, energetic and easy-going style put everyone at ease, and there was enthusiastic participation by attendees in the form of eager comments and sharing. His presentation was geared towards the benefits of networking and the different styles of communication needed to be successful at it. The presentation was described by attendees as “insightful, engaging and interactive." The entire event was the perfect opportunity to learn more about the importance of local business networking and allowed each person to walk away energized about engaging the community as chamber members and business owners.
The event ended with a reminder about upcoming chamber events in March, including lunch at Springhill Suites on Thursday, March 13th, breakfast at Parry Lodge on March 18th, and the first Valley lunch of the year at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort on March 26th.
